Dustbane and veritree Partner to Restore Kelp Forests in Canada
Globally, kelp forests are declining due to warming oceans, pollution, and overfishing, leading to the loss of vital marine habitats and biodiversity. These underwater forests are home to thousands of marine species, providing them with essential habitat and food. They help combat climate change while supporting cleaner, more resilient marine ecosystems.

A Natural Evolution in Impact
Our Buy 1, We Plant 1 initiative has already made a measurable difference. Together, we have planted more than 800,000 trees in Madagascar and counting.
Now, we’re bringing that impact home. Starting May 2025, every 2L of Dustbane’s Modular Series products and Bio-Bac purchased contributes to the restoration of kelp forests along the Sunshine Coast in British Columbia.

A Groundbreaking Approach to Ocean
Through veritree’s technology-backed approach to ecosystem restoration, we’re helping to ensure transparency, accountability, and real-world results. Working with the Sechelt First Nation, the project leverages new techniques to seed bull kelp and sugar kelp in Hotham Sound and Powell River.
By deploying kelp sporophytes on a mix of lines and green gravel, this initiative will result in millions of kelp plants thriving in Indigenous coastal waters, reviving ecosystems and supporting sustainable fisheries.
